Holiday Camp Report 2009
It was a great honor that SMK Green Road’s Taekwon-Do Club had been assigned to organise this year holiday camp at Ocean Resort, Lundu on 19th and 20th of December 2009. The committees involved in organising this camp were Lawrence Chai (Senior), Crystal Teo (President), Patrick Chai (Vice President), Emily Chong (Secretary), Bong Shuen Wei (Vice Secretary), Douglas Bong (Treasurer), Dominquez Chan (AJK), Johnny Bong (AJK), Leong Puak Han (AJK), Lee Puay Kian (Member), Liu Choon Hein (Member), Chin Ka How (Member), Joyce Chan (Member), Delton Sako (Member) and Nigel Tay (Member). Being a first timer in organising such event, we started our preparation right after our semester exam in early November. To ensure the success of this camp, the organising committees were told to put on their thinking caps and also to sacrifice their precious time during this school holidays. After having countless meetings we managed to come up with a list of itinerary and events for the camp. Initially, we had a lot of problems arising from different of opinions and misunderstanding from fellow committees. Eventually, with the cooperation from all concerned we were able to work as a team to achieve the same goal.
On 19th December 2009, all the participants met at Chonglin Plaza at 6.00 am. Upon arrival of all participants, the bus left for Ocean Resort around 7.00am Upon reaching our destination around 9.30am, the participants were briefed on the rules and regulations. Then the participants were divided into five teams for the games. Before the participants began the games, the Game Master and Game Assistants presented a brief demonstration. Every team was eager to win and with their determination and commitment they fought hard to score points in every game. Every participant was having a fun-filled time although they were playing under the hot sun. The winner for the first game namely “The Peanut Nerves” was won by Team 1, whereas the winner for the second game, “The Balloon Race” was won by Team 2. At last we had the result for the overall winner for both games. Team 1 was declared the winner and they were rewarded with a hamper. Feeling exhausted, the participants were given time for lunch and rest. Before we could continue with our games, we were all caught by surprise when it started to rain heavily. Disappointed we had to cancel our next event. The rain failed to dampen the mood of the participants and instead all of them headed to the beach soaking wet.
In the evening, as planned, a barbecue dinner was next in the list. There were lots of mouth watering food such as chicken wings, sausages, corns with butter and orange juice. A campfire was set up and everyone was in jolly mood. This was followed by caroling by the Greenians accompanied by our two renowned musicians, Mr Patrick Chai and Ms Ruby Chong who played the guitar and violin respectively.
The next morning, 20th December, breakfast was served. Thereafter, the talented Greenians were back and this time they performed a sketch entitled “The Sleeping Beauty”. Their hard work really paid off when the participants busted into laughter upon watching the performance. Christmas songs filled the air again. Now going to the last event before we called it a day, the Treasure Hunt began after a short briefing. The winner of the Treasurer Hunt was Team 1 again. When the last game was over, it was time for prize giving ceremony and photo taking. At 1.00pm the participants departed from Ocean Resort.
A note of thank you to all participants, organising committees and senior members who had helped to ensure the success of this holiday camp. To the organising committees of
